10/07/11: Can you believe it's October already? The leaves are just starting to change color and I've gotten most of the Halloween decorations up and fascinating the neighborhood children with them. I've also managed to get more products up in my shop, and am going to be spending some time this coming weekend photographing some new items.
If you're wondering why I haven't had much in the way of updates here, it's because I'm working on a brand new website that will hopefully layout much better since I first put this one up. That has been eating a lot of my time as well since things need to be adjusted here and there and there's been just a ton of stuff going on! Busy busy busy as always!
Also wanted to suggest for those who like going "green" that there are costume swaps going on tomorrow, where you can trade gently worn Halloween costumes for "new" gently worn costumes! It's a win-win for everyone! You get a new costume and give a new life to one that you may not wear again! For a list of swap locations and to learn more, check out greenhalloween.org and their list of costume swap locations!
8/7/11: Otakon has come and gone... I had a lot of fun even though I caught the con-plague and have been coughing non-stop this past week. BLEH. It's never fun getting sick from a convention, but when you're around some 30k+ people, germs abound. All I can suggest is WASH YOUR HANDS OFTEN! I'll be working on the con report and post some cosplays soon. But I'm still unpacking and trying to recover. So soon!
In the meantime, I leave you with this scary picture of me making faces that my friend Mike took on his cell while we were waiting for a panel.

6/30/11: Arghhhh! Otakon crunch time! I've got so much planned, but probably won't finish it all. I'm ok with that. I will still try my best to accomplish stuff!
5/30/11: Working, working, working. Summer con season is starting and I know I'm not the only one trying to use all my free time to get costumes and cosplays done. I have a lot of plans for this summer, and we'll see how many I actually get done. I will be attending AnimeNEXT and Otakon this summer. So I hope to see a lot of awesome outfits! Also, I finally posted my costume of Zoot from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Definately a fun outfit to wear! Although I find it funny that more people recognize it at anime cons than at sci-fi cons. I guess otaku just have better movie preferences. :P
5/9/11: OMG what a busy time it's been! Now that both cons I've been doing work for are done for the year, I can get back to doing all the other stuff! Still have some commissions to do, but for the most part, a lot of my time is now mine again. So that means getting back to all those half-done tutorials and costume updates and con reports that I've been meaning to do! First off, let's start with Costume-Con 29 which I just attended. You can find the con report right here. I also updated the Juno page a bit, and hope to find my in-progress pictures of that and post them as well. I have a few costumes in the works, like always, and I have a few costumes that need to be posted. blargh, why did I allow myself to get so far behind? Also, I'm working on revamping the website a bit. So stay tuned!
3/4/11: Oh my poor website, how I have neglected thee. I keep thinking to myself, I need to really stop doing so much. XD But I'm back and have a slew of things to put up on this website. What's been keeping me busy? Life, being staff on 2 conventions, Costume-Con 29, and Zenkaikon. Speaking of which, Zenkaikon is coming up in less than 2 weeks now. I can't wait to see you all there and see what cosplays you will be bringing. As the head of cosplay, I may be running around the convention like a chicken with its head cut off, but feel free to say Hi! I don't bite, so don't worry. Though you may find me in a state of confusion or near panic. LOL
In other news, it's March so that means...
So while sewing up those cosplays, making quilts, styling wigs, making a gift, remember that it's always better to share. If only to give a single tip or idea to someone in a creative rut or help with a suggestion to a knitting problem. Teach a sibling, niece, nephew, mom, or dad, something new! Share a tip. Also, no one knows everything. Learn something new! This month, I'm learning to make wings which you'll see on a soon to be completed cosplay! :)
3/7/10:
Apparently, the propagation of my domain name is having some issues and the website availability is spotty at best. I hope the last adjustments I made fix the problems and the website will not be as buggy. Which means I can work on those updates! YAY! I have a couple of tutorials people have asked for and
<3 to Effycrush for taking pictures to help me with one of the tutorials!
3/4/10:
Recoding of the contact page is now complete so you can send me messages again. :) Also thanks to those who noticed some of my pattern links weren't working. I realized it after a few of the websites I referenced updated their sites so the links do not exist anymore.
I am going to work on getting images of those patterns so I can link the appropriate image. Thanks all!
3/3/10:
Hey all, did some server updates and need to tweak some things on the website so everything is all operational. For instance, there are still some issues that I need to update with the contact page. It's currently not sending correctly because the server settings have changed, so within another day or so I should have my code updated to send correctly. Oh technology how you sometimes irk me so!
Otherwise, last few months have been a whirlwind with finishing up my internship and starting a new career. Which has all been very exciting! But hasn't left me much time lately for cosplay. That will be remedied in the next couple months though! I have definite costume plans for upcoming cons and I actually do have some tutorials that I am working on! I promise! <3
12/09/09:
Finally some time to update, even though I haven't been on the internet much at all! I wish you all a safe and happy holiday season!
Zenkaikon was a success and thank you to all those who came out to our convention! We have so much to work on and improve for next year so thanks for all your support and comments!
At AnimeUSA, my friends and I in Artist Alley, were quite successful and we are working on getting a space at Katsucon's Crafters Corner. So thank you for your interest in our crafts!
And now the holidays are rolling in and between my internship, jobs, and my certification studies, I've been so busy! I am working on catching up on emails so please bear with me as I get back to responding to emails! Thanks! <3
11/26/09:
Happy Thanksgiving! Hope you all have the ability to spend some time with your families and for those working Black Friday tomorrow, good luck!
11/12/09:
I'm not dead, I swear! I know it has been a while since my last update, but so much has been going on! I started my internship at the hospital, and working part time almost every night once I leave the hospital. So my days have been rather busy. I also passed two other medical certifications and need to take one more. I just wonder when I'll find the time to study for it!
My last month has been working on on the details of the cosplay events at Zenkaikon, which happened this past weekend. Zenkaikon was a success and of course the main complaint was space issues, but we really plan to remedy that next year. This was my first year as a Department Head. I'd like to thank all those who came out for the Hall Cosplay Contest, the Masquerade, Cosplay Dating Game, and those who came out with any and all of their awesome cosplays! For the most part, I think the events went smoothly, and I really hope to improve upon them next year. So if you attended, I'd love to hear feedback from the cosplay events. Please send an email my way by going to the Zenkaikon website's contact form and selecting 'Cosplay', or join our forums and post in our official convention feedback thread. I was also interviewed about being Head of Cosplay by Joseph Valenti of Coswatch.com. You can listen to it here and listen to their various reports from Zenkaikon.
Other than that, AnimeUSA is next weekend. I have an artist alley to sell cyberlox
and more of my body pillows! And probably a few other trinkets. Also at the table, there will be several other artists selling "The World Ends with You" pins (among many others), fleece character hats, plushes (yay beenie weenies! XD), dollfie clothes and accessories, and many other things.
09/22/09:
Well apparently today is the first day of Autumn, and it is also already well into the month of September, and now I remember something I forgot to post. Did you know that September is National Sewing Month here in the United States?
In fact, this year's theme is about being environmentally friendly and reusing scrap fabric and older clothes to make new things. They are even running a contest at NationalSewingMonth.org.
So if you do nothing else this month, get a little creative and make something. Though, I probably guess that most of you are already well into making your cosplays for the fall convention season. I should really be working on that, but, back to studying for me!
08/30/09:
It probably seems like I've been on hiatus, but things have been busy between summer classes and exams and life in general. Never fear though, I have been updating the site and I am now caught up with convention reports for this year. You will now find reports for Katsucon, Sakura Sunday, Tora-con, Costume-Con, the NE Cosplayers Picnic, AnimeNEXT, the DAS Cosplay Picnic, and Otakon, all linked from my events page. ::wipes brow::
I have also found time to make it out to the beach for some boogey boarding and general getting smashed by ocean waves. Some kayaking, and trying to put together an adventure day next month consisting of camping, mountain biking, hiking, and whitewater rafting. Also, I've been busy organizing cosplay activities for GamesX and Zenkaikon, this coming fall. That and getting ready to go back to classes.
The coding for my webstore is not going exactly as planned, so in the meantime, I have set up a storefront on Etsy: GGX Designs. There are only a few items up there at the moment, but I'm working on the photographs for the other products and hope to have them up there soon!
Also coming soon, some tutorials for fabric dying and another on wig styling, and I have a few new costumes to list, including Nina Wong from My Otome, Sun-Sun from Bleach, and Onion Knight from Final Fantasy Dissidia.
And for those lucky folks headed out to Dragon*Con this coming week, have lots of fun and have a safe trip!
07/17/09:
Checking in from Day 1 of Otakon. Turned on the steamer and prepping some costumes and heading out shortly for the convention. Yay free internet at the hotel, so I'll be able to check in regularly!
Everyone have fun, and I'll see a lot of you soon!
07/07/09:
Thank you to everyone who helped make our Artist Alley table a success at AnimeNEXT! *hugs* I'm still working on the website store. I know, I keep saying it, but hey, real life has to come first. If you were interested in having something commissioned from the stuff I was selling, please just send an email my way by using the form on the contact page.
Working on stuff for Otakon currently which is next week and I just may bring some cosplays by request. LOL!!! Doing computer fixes, bleh, and trying to keep up in class. The most interesting thing about phlebotomy is that we practice on each other. I have evidence of an oops! Look here if you're not sqeamish! Also busy with other websites for friends and costuming events. Busy busy!!! See ya all at Otakon next week!
06/10/09:
I'll be selling my cyberlox, mini clip-on cyberlox I call "Candy Pieces", body pillow tentacles, dollfie jewelry, and other cute keychains at the Studio Kitsu table at AnimeNEXT's artist alley this weekend. Please stop by and say hi! Maybe one new costume this weekend, but other than that, it's just going to be a relaxing con weekend. Still working on the store portion of the website which I hope to have up next week. So if you don't get a chance to get what you want this weekend, I'll be taking commissions on the items I'm selling. See you all there!
05/28/09:
Oh my goodness, it's been a while since I updated and a hectic couple months it has been. Things are just going to get a lot more busy this summer. But I have my plans and cosplays on the agenda, however, due to my schedule, may or may not complete them. I am going to do my best though for AnimeNEXT and Otakon. This coming weekend is the North East Cosplayers Picnic and I hope to see some of you there. I'm also working on my store and hope to have things selling in there soon and catch up on my costume and tutorial pages.
04/04/09:
Well, things have been busy around here. The weather is getting warmer, and so I am getting in the mood for making more cosplays! There's two things I'm working on at the moment. Those and work have been taking up most of my time. I also have almost every weekend booked through the middle of May with different events and activities. I added a couple new events to my schedule.
This weekend I'll be helping out Zenkaikon and the Delaware Anime Society at their booth at the Suburu Sakura Sunday event at Fairmount Park in Philadelphia, PA. Next weekend I'll be helping D.A.S. with a demonstration of cosplay at the Lillian Marrero Branch of the Free Public Library of Philadelphia. Then it's Easter and I'll be attending the traditional Cosplay Easter Egg Hunt that my friends have been having the last couple years. Then two conventions in a row. Tora-con in Rochester NY, and Costume-Con 27 in Baltimore. ::wipes sweat from brow::
Hopefully, I'll survive the month. But it's all for fun and leaves me excited to get a start on the summer cosplay season! I also wish you all luck with your cosplays for the months ahead!
03/17/09:
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
And I just realized that March is National Craft Month so go out and find something new to learn! Do a search for those words and I'm sure there is something you can find that you might have fun doing.
In the meantime, I've added some new costumes to the cosplay gallery such as King Mickey, Pakkun, and a few others. There will also be some new events added to my schedule. Those should find themselves on the events page shortly. Things are coming along and I hope to spend more time on the site once I get Resident Evil 5 out of my system. lol
01/03/09: First post of the new year goes out to my friends Bean and Fatty who are getting married today! Congratulations and I wish you guys the best! Hmmm, I better start getting ready for the wedding...
12/19/08: Sorry, because of the Holidays, I've just found myself a little busier than I thought. So hopefully, during the day off I have for Christmas, I can do a little more updating on the site.
11/27/08: For my friends in the US, don't eat too much! Happy Thanksgiving!
11/24/08: Philcon was awesome this past weekend and I still have to complete the con reports for this one, as well as the last few. But I have gotten a few of my costume pages up and running; Deidara from Naruto, Cid from FF Advent Children, Hitsugaya from Bleach, Zefiris from Scrapped Princess, and Shiina Tamai from Narutaru are now up and viewable on the costumes page.
11/06/08:
In a few hours, I'll be heading down to Hampton, VA for Nekocon.
I haven't been there in a few years so it'll be nice to see how the con has grown and
see friends who I would only see at Virginia cons. Can't wait to see you
all there and to check out all your cosplays! Bwahahahaha
10/31/08: Happy Halloween!
Friends and I out at Terror Behind the Walls at Eastern State Penitiary. We had a great dinner at Trio where we celebrated our friend Joe's birthday.
One of the best haunted attractions each year and I'm glad to have made it a yearly tradition to go with good friends and have a great time. If you're ever around Philadelphia during October, do make this a place to definately check out.
Supposedly the prison is truly haunted, and has been featured on many shows about ghosts and haunted places. Most recently I think I've seen it featured on Ghosthunters.
09/29/08: A small con report for Otakon is now up, and it's tiny. I should have wrote it up right after the con, but I just really didn't get around to doing that. A few good pics from the con included! You can access con reports and galleries through the events page or you can view it here.
09/10/08: Hey guys, it's National Sewing Month!
But you probably already knew that. There's a lot of good deals at many sewing centers and fabric stores going on so take advantage and stock up for the fall cons and winter con season, and even next spring if you're not as big as a procrastinator as me. I even got myself a new serger for a decent price on HSN...oh, I saw it when I flipped through the channels first thing in the morning, and when you're not fully awake you do silly things! But it should be here tomorrow and I'm excited to get playing with it! SQUEEEE!!!
Also completed the about me page and got stuff up on the events page. Still working on the other pages.
09/08/08: Guess what? You can get in touch with me now! The contact form is now up and running!
Darn smtp server settings. GRRRRR!!! So if you want to send me a message/email, hit the contact me button
above (that heart up there by my face), or click here. Make sure you type
in the correct email address or I won't be able to respond.
Now that the contact form is out of the way I can work on fleshing out the rest of the
site. Thanks for your patience guys!
08/05/08: Sorry, there hasn't been much work on the website, and I have yet
to get that contact form up, but I've been cramming some costume work the last
several weeks in preparation for Otakon. That's right! I'll be down in Baltimore
this weekend so if you see me, please come say hi. I don't bite...much. LOL
07/20/08: Oh look, new site is up. Although the links aren't
really working because I'm coding those at the moment. Oh well. In the
meantime, if you have suggestions of things you'd like to see, or tutorials
of stuff you have seen me do on my various costumes/cosplays, think about it and hopefully
I'll get the contact form up and working real soon. |
